Business Partnerships:
Business Development - Collaborations, Acquisitions and Licensing
Merial develops value-adding biological and pharmaceutical products for the animal
health sector. In that endeavor, Merial collaborates with universities, research
institutions and companies to utilize the best available technologies in developing
new products. Thus, strategic alliances with external partners play an essential
role in Merial research and development.
As a complement to new product development, Merial, via the Business Development
department, identifies and implements transactions or collaborations to acquire
or access strategic assets, such as new products, industrial capacity/assets, geographic
presence, etc. The Business Development department coordinates a full spectrum of
third party relationships from licenses, partnerships, alliances and joint ventures
to equity participation or acquisitions. Each opportunity is evaluated by a multi-functional
team including technical and commercial expertise spanning all major species, technologies
and geographies.
Constantly changing animal health markets, evolving technologies and the development
of new products are continuously creating new opportunities within the animal health
industry. By investing considerable time and expertise in evaluating opportunities,
Business Development seeks to ensure that Merial customers have the very best products
possible, regardless of their origins.
